The inmyskin project, now presents a chat with Janice:
one: what is your name and where are you located ?
J - Janice. Jay. Gritty.
two: what do you feel is your calling in life ?
J - I feel like a star in the universe, one of the chosen few. I feel purpose, and I know purpose. I have many talents and strong qualities as a woman. I am a creator. A sensible creator and giver. I'm an artist, there's a reason why I can own the title artist. There's a reason why I choose to express through art. There's a reason why it comes so naturally and it never slips from me. I know what to do with my power.
three: when did you realize your self-worth and how has this journey of self-discovery been for you ? what have you learned the most about yourself ?
J - Recently I've discovered how powerful I am. Everything about me - mind, and body. Literally I am a God. I say I am one and I feel like I am one. 2015 has been an ultimate struggle. Despite the hardships, I am very thankful for my strength for over coming some of those major obstacles. I'm looking forward to days now, especially better ones. Self worth is highly important for everyone to know and keep! We're so powerful.
four: how has your struggles helped you to become a better woman ?
J - Living day to day struggling is really the worst. You have to be positive and mentally strong every single day of your life. You face to be strong for yourself and the ones close to you. Holding back tears has got to be one of the toughest things to do in front of my two year old daughter. She means everything to me and I never want her to see mommy down and out. I don't want her to ever question my strength. My strength comes from her being.
five: who or what motivates you to create ?
J - Being that I'm sensible to a lot of things, I am easily inspired and motivated to create.
six: what is your long time passion in life ?
J - Live freely and be proud of who I am.
seven: if you could give any tips or advice to the young girls and women around the world who suffer with loving and accepting who they are, what would you say ?
J - When you feel like you want to find yourself because you don't know how to love or accept your perfect imperfect self, go out and find you, but don't seek to the point where you're just looking anywhere for love and acceptance. Seek more so with-in. No one knows your more than you even if you don't think you do. We are beyond what we physically and mentally see.
eight: what do you feel needs to be told to our beautiful women of color ? do you feel that us women of color hear those words often ? if not, what can we do as a community to change that. . .
J - Nothing basic as telling black women that they're gorgeous, we all know that. Black women are more than beautiful, we are more than intelligent, we're more than strong minded beings. Powerful is the word and we, black women, should embrace the simple fact that the power that we hold is literally superior. We all have power and spark, make sure it's always on.
