The in his skin, project will now escape into the mind of darian:
001: What is your name and where do you currently reside ?
D - My name is Darian. I currently reside in Miami, FL.
002: Who influences your life the most ?
D - My mom influences my life. As much as she nags about the most simple things in life, it was because of her nagging that kept me on the right path.
003: What is your purpose in life?
D - My purpose in life is to help those in need of help. Being a humanitarian at heart brings me to want to spread positivity and show others that all hope is not lost.
004: What are your thoughts on the place that black men hold in society?
D -My thoughts are as follows: Black men are caged in society's prison of prejudices. No matter the ever-expanding brain of knowledge and beautiful complexions, black men will always have a label on today's society. But it is for us black men to stand together and embrace our heritage. Cherish our health. Acknowledge that although there will be persecution amongst us, we stand as one.
005: What do you hope for people to gather from your work?
D - Just pure honesty. To appreciate the building process rather than the finished product.
006: How has love helped you become a stronger man?
D - That is describing love in all forms. Having love for myself is what brought about self-respect and identifying who I am as a person.
007: When did you realize that you were comfortable in your own skin?
D - From birth. Growing up, the way society perceives "color" was never an issue, more or less, a thought in my head. I just learned to respect others, regardless of their background. Simple lessons from mom still live on till this day.
008: What do you love most about being a man of color ?
D - It feels empowering. Although, throughout history itself, men of color was always placed at the bottom of the totem pole. Excelling in different levels of education and expanding my knowledge beyond the capacity of most shows me as well as my brothers, that our color is our beauty. Our knowledge is our strength.
009: Name some lessons that a woman has taught you. . .
D - Never let your guard down for anyone. Love can be a battlefield at times, but never surrender to it.
